REST DAYS!
Who else feels guilty on rest days??? How many rest days do you have per week?
The truth is…rest & recovery is all part of the process and ESSENTIAL to allow your body to repair and replenish energy, and for your muscles to rebuild and grow! Exercise creates tiny tears in your muscle…but when you allow the muscles to rest the tissue is able to repair itself…hello gains!
It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking ‘more is better’ when it comes to fitness. If you are constantly training at a high intensity you run the risk of overtraining. Signs include fatigue, lethargy, nagging injuries and drop in exercise performance. Overtraining places stress on our bodies and can result in a plateau in your progress!!
Personally, I take 1 rest day per week and i’m still learning to embrace this day, which is why I’m writing about it. Listen to your body. We are all different and depending on your fitness level and other factors you may need more days to recover xo
